Shantelle Waters (Shan Shan) is a teenage mixed-race teenager who attends Meadowfield High performing arts school. One day she finds a magic microphone that takes her into animation world where she is the popstar Shan Shan.

Shan Shan grew up in Canada, her mum is Asian and her dad is Caucasian. She dreams of being a popstar and attends the Performing Arts School - Meadowfield High. Whilst attending the school, she writes songs at home and practises singing in front of the long mirror in her bedroom. Her songs are mainly to do with being ‘Euro Asian’ and her experiences at school. Then when she finds the magic microphone she starts to write songs about animation and magical experiences.
